Another Saturday

So today my husband had a Saturday off in it seems like 1885345495843 months. As things go, I am coming down with some kind of chest cold/sore throat/tiredness thingy. We did manage to make it to our second to last swimming lessons where not only did my hubby attend but so did my mother-in-law and father-in-law. So I am glad they at least got to see her swim once. After that we came home, ate lunch and then I took an 1.5 hour nap which made me feel a bit better but my throat felt incredible after Steve bought me some Dairy Queen, but once again it hurts, grrrr. We did make this for dinner and it tasted just like a pot pie and was quite good! Well, we are watching the Lions game and afterward I think I am taking some Zicam and going to bed.

American Idol

So for my birthday, my mom, Karen, Kerri and I all went to see American Idols Live! It was so much fun and I have not been to a concert since I was 16 so it was a great refresher and the crowd was a nice mix of young and old so I didn't feel to out of place.

Palace of Auburn Hills-Tour Buses

So ready to go!

Waiting for the show to begin, Kerri, Mom, Karen and Me.

First up, Michael Sarver, best song was closer by Ne-yo

Megan, best song was none unfortunately I thought she was the worst.

Scott MacIntyre

Lil Rounds, best song was If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it.

Anoop Desai

Matt Giraud, this was his hometown so he did awesome!

Allison, she has a really unique voice.

Danny Gokey, he did great and gave an inspirational message toward the end!

Adam, by far got the crowd going the most. I must admit I was not a huge fan but he really is a great performer.

I thought this picture was cool of Adam on the big screen.

Adam and Allison performed, Slow Ride, one of my favorite performances of the evening.

The winner, Kris!

He did perform well but the crowd was not even close to being as wild as they were for Adam.

Everyone came out to perform Don't stop belevin! The finale was awesome and I wish they did more group songs.

The worst part of the night, trying to get out of there!

This day in history

So today is my birthday. I was reminiscing on some of my past birthdays....

As a child I did have birthday parties and they were always small with a few friends and or family and we did visit Disney World sometimes since we were living in Florida for most of my childhood.

When I was 4 I remember I had wispy white blonde hair and I got a Teddy Ruxpin!

My 10th birthday my mom and dad took me and 3 friends to see The Secret Garden and then to Chuckie Cheese. I remember one of my friends got me a hula hoop. As you can see Chuckie was a bit frightening then.

We rode to get my friends in this and then all of us "kids" sat in the back (see the checkerboard in the photo below....

Wow! I would be creeped out if someone came to pick my kid up in that beast.

On my 16th birthday, I was living in Willow Point trailer park in Harrison Township, MI. My mom dad and I shared a 600 sq. ft. trailer home at 24737 Bradford Ct. Harrison Twp., MI. Here is a similar photo but ours has since been demolished. A few years ago my mom and I visited the slab that our trailer used to sit on.I did not do anything for my birthday except get in a fight with my parents (I was hormonal) because they wanted to get me something but I didn't want them to spend money. They ended up getting me my first radio, an Aiwa that looked similar to this.
Then we went and took some leftover cake to our neighbors and stayed at their house for awhile.

My 18th birthday was spent in Florida at my Uncle Chucks house. I was there caring for my mom and I remember my Aunt Jodie took me to the mall so I could get my ears double pierced and we got my Cousin Megan's ears pierced too and she hated it. I was in Florida because my parents had just been in a terrible car accident and my dad had died. We stayed in Florida for a month while my mom had multiple surgeries. It is a very foggy time to me and I remember I cut all of my hair down to about a 1/2 inch and we had hot dogs for dinner.

Birthdays 19-22 were crap and I didn't even do anything on my 21st.

My 23rd birthday my mom and I went to New York City. It was so much fun and I will never forget this special weekend with my mom! We did every touristy thing possible.

My 24th birthday Steve and I had just found out we were pregnant and we went to Frankenmuth and took a horse drawn carriage ride.

My 25th birthday, Steve, Sadie and I went to Frankenmuth for my free dinner and Sadie was crying the whole time.

Steve gave me this adorable mini trunk and packed sandals and sunscreen and told me to plan Sadies first trip to Disney. I started crying my eyes out.
My 26th birthday is today and Steve got me this new toy.

My mom got me tickets to hang out with 10 fun people tonight! Should be fun!

Lack of Driving Skills

So I will be the first one to admit that I am a horrible driver. I really need to do something about this and become a good driver. I need to pay attention, turn my ipod on before I leave and not use my cell phone. After my near fatal crash this morning I have officially been scared poop-less. This is my mid-year resolution.

Ms. Independent

So apparently Sadie thinks she is about lets say 10 years old or so. She thinks she can swim by herself, eat her own yogurt (getting it to her mouth is the challenge), hold and drink a large McDonalds Sweet Tea and that unlike every other kid she is exempt from sitting in a car seat. Did I miss like 9 year or so? Oh, and she is also not wanting to eat. Or I guess I should say she is like playing these eating games where she points to what she wants and I make it then she throws it on the floor and screams like I just tried to give her poison. Fun times.

TGIF

Today is Friday and when I was younger I used to always watch TGIF on Friday nights. I loved it and looked forward to it because that also meant I didn't have school for two days. By far my favorite show was Step by Step. Followed by Boy Meets World

When I started thinking about TGIF I also started thinking about how I used to be so in love with my TV shows in the late 80's and early 90's and in my opinion kids shows today have nothing on these classics.

Nickelodeon
Doug (I like both the Nick version and Disney one)
Clarissa Explains It All (because we all have a ladder outside of our bedroom window)
Salute Your Shorts (who wouldn't want to go to this summer camp)
Hey Dude (I just loved the theme song)
What Would You Do (I always wanted to ride on the pie coaster)

Finders Keepers (I would point and yell, there it is!!)

Nick Arcade (because the end was so cool)

Today's Special

Legends of the Hidden Temple (Kirk Fogg and Olmec)
Disney Channel

Mickeys Mousercise (because Kellyn was like the coolest girl)Dumbos Circus (I enjoyed the live action puppetry)
Welcome to Pooh Corner (more puppets)Gummi Bears (bouncing here and there and everywhere, I still have a grammy gummy bear)
Chip N Dales Rescue Rangers

Kids Incorporated

The new Mickey Mouse Club

Disney World Inside Out (JD Roth and George Foreman were the perfect team)
WB

Pinky and the Brain (Narrrrrfffff)

Animanics

PBS
Mr. Rogers Neighborhood (wow, really creepy now that I look back on it)

Magic School Bus
I could also never leave out Saved by the Bell

Wow, did I waste a lot of brain cells as a child.
