Sadie at 18 Months

So our little princess turned 18 months on October 8, 2009.

She has so much personality and is so incredibly smart. She loves to be a part of the action and is always curious about everything! She loves being tickled and watching mommy and daddy tickle each other, she thinks this is just hilarious and if we stop she will take our hand and try to make us tickle the other. She loves to roll around and one of her favorites is jumping on the bed with daddy after her bath.
She is a busy body just like her mommy and when she does do something she is not supposed to she just flashes her adorable toothy smile. She is always trying to find something new to get in to and is starting to remember where things are around the house that she is not supposed to get into. She also loves to identify objects and who they belong to; for example, mama's shoes, dada's coat, etc. She is typically very accurate on what belongs to who! We try to let her help around the house as much as possible; put the soap in the washer, put mail in the mailbox, adding ingredients when we are cooking and so on - she is always sure to clap for herself when she is done and gets lots of kisses and hugs for her successes.
She does not like to be tied down or restrained to any particular area (example her play room, car seat, high chair) She has recently began protesting every time we attempt to put the tray on her high chair and would much rather be pulled up to the table with mommy and daddy. She is very picky about food (except at day care where she eats and sleeps like a champ), one day she will eat so much we can't keep her full and the next she will refuse everything.
Sadie loves to watch Baby Einstein and My Friends Tigger and Pooh. She also loves to be read too and her favorite book now is Elmo SO BIG but she also has a soft spot for Dr. Seuss. Sadie loves music and she especially likes the Barney song "All the Raindrops." She also likes to dance and when she can escape her playroom we will find her spinning around in the kitchen and watching her reflection in the stove. Sadie also likes people and will act shy at first around someone new but warms up and shows her true colors pretty quickly. She really is interested in other "big kids" but calls any other child (despite the age) "baby."

Sadie is starting to talk more and more and is coming up with new words and talking "jibberish" everyday now. We are still working on getting her to say her name, which comes out as "sssssssssssss" and I love you which sounds like "EYElllllll." I play games with her in the car and get her to say mama, then dada and then throw in Sadie really quickly hoping she will just say it!
Sadie loves to give kisses and goes "mmmmm" when she kisses you. She rarely gives hugs, unless she is tired and wants to be rocked, this after all would cut into her play time. We recently bought her a potty to see if she would be interested in it and she does not mind sitting on it as long as she does not have to go. If we try to put her on it when we know she is ready she screams and tries to get away. We have been using baby sign language since Sadie was an infant and we plan on using it through potty training too.
Most recently she has become opposed to getting dressed. She does not like anything to go over her head (shirts, hooded sweatshirts) and hates having on shoes or socks. Also, with Halloween rapidly approaching we have found out that she does not like anything fuzzy to be even taken near her. Nor does she like any costume for that matter. Ladybug - I don't think so! Fairy (Mommy thought this would reduce the "fur" factor) no way Jose, she screamed when we took it near her. Oh well, we have plenty of Halloween's to look forward to! She has become strangely picky about what she allows her Yaya (my mother-in-law) to dress her in as well. She refuses to put coats on for her, socks and the strangest of all...black shoes, not any shoe just black ones!?

She will always be my sweet baby girl.

I love you Sadie and happy 18 month birthday (you can slow down any time now)!
